Indications

  • Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension

Pharmacology

  • Comprised of Brimonidine Tartrate & Timolol Maleate
  • Dual mechanism of action: decreases aqueous humor production and increases uveoscleral outflow

Dosage & Administration

  • Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily

Interaction

  • Specific drug interaction studies have not been conducted

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Sinus bradycardia
  • Second or third-degree atrioventricular block
  • Overt cardiac failure
  • Cardiogenic shock

Side Effects

  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Conjunctival folliculosis
  • Conjunctival hyperaemia
  • Eye pruritus
  • Ocular burning or stinging

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
  • Combipres should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus
  • Timolol has been detected in human milk
  • Decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother

Precautions & Warnings

  • May be absorbed systemically
  • Same types of cardiovascular and pulmonary adverse reactions as seen with systemic beta-blockers may occur
  • Cautions should be exercised in treating patients with severe or unstable and uncontrolled cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases

Use in Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years have not been established
  • No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and other adult patients

Therapeutic Class

  • Drugs for miotics and glaucoma

Storage Conditions

  • Store at a cool & dry place
  • Protect from light
  • Do not use longer than 30 days after the first opening of the bottle
  • Keep out of the reach of children
