Description
- Hisnul syrup is a potent antihistamine used for the relief of allergic reactions such as urticaria, sensitivity reactions, angioneurotic edema, vasomotor rhinitis, cough, common cold, and motion sickness.

Pharmacology
- Chlorpheniramine Maleate is a potent histamine H1-receptor blocking agent
- Exerts its effects by competitively blocking H1-receptor
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 4 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 24 mg daily
- Child dose: 6-12 years: 2 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 12 mg daily
- 2-5 years: 1 mg every 4-6 hours, maximum 6 mg daily
- 1-2 years: 1 mg twice daily
- Not recommended for infants below 1 year
Interaction
- Incompatible with calcium chloride, kanamycin sulfate, noradrenaline acid tartrate, pentobarbital sodium, and meglumine adipiodone
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine
- Newborn or premature infants

- Well-tolerated
- May cause drowsiness, dizziness, muscular weakness, and gastrointestinal upset
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for use in lactating mothers and during the first trimester of pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with glaucoma and prostatic hypertrophy
- Caution in driving vehicles and operating machinery
Overdose Effects
- CNS depression, CNS stimulation, tinnitus, blurred vision, dizziness, hypotension
- More likely in children: Stimulation and atropine-like signs and symptoms
