Indications
- Relief of pain and inflammation
- Arthritic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout
- Acute musculoskeletal disorders such as periarthritis (e.g., Frozen shoulder), tendinitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis
- Pain resulting from trauma including fracture, low back pain, sprains, strains, dislocations
- Control of pain and inflammation in orthopaedic, dental and other minor surgeries
- Postoperative pain
- Pain of renal colic
- Local anaesthetic action due to Lidocaine
Pharmacology
- Potent nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Marked analgesic and antipyretic properties
- Uricosuric effects
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Inhibition of cyclooxygenase
- Rapid onset and stability of Lidocaine
- Impairs generation and conduction of nerve impulses
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: one ampoule once daily by intramuscular injection
- Renal colic dosage: one ampoule intramuscularly, may administer a second dose if necessary
- Children dosage for juvenile chronic arthritis
- Recommended lowest effective dosage for elderly patients
Interaction
- Potential interactions with Lithium, Digoxin, anticoagulants, antidiabetic agents, Cyclosporin, Methotrexate, quinolone antimicrobials, other NSAIDs, steroids, and diuretics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
- Active or suspected peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics of the amide type
- Adams-Stokes syndrome
- Severe degrees of heart block
- Hypersensitivity to excipients used in the formulation

- Gastrointestinal discomfort
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Bleeding
- Injection site disorder
- Abscesses
- Local necrosis
- Central nervous system (CNS) reactions: drowsiness, dizziness, disorientation, confusion, lightheadedness
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless compelling reasons
- Lowest effective dosage should be used
- Not recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy
- Small quantities may be detected in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for patients with severe hepatic, cardiac, or renal insufficiency
- Monitoring of renal function for patients using NSAIDs
- Discontinuation if abnormal liver function tests persist or worsen
- Monitoring for patients under long term NSAID treatment
