Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria

Pharmacology
- Fexofenadine is an 'inverse agonist' of the H1 receptor
- Binds to and stabilizes the inactive form of the receptor
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- No evidence of antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, anticholinergic, sedative, or adrenergic blocking activity
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- Different dosage for different age groups and impaired renal function
- Tablet options: 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, 180 mg once daily
- Suspension options: 30 mg or 5 ml twice daily
- Specific dosage for chronic idiopathic urticaria
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Potential interaction with erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduction in bioavailability if coadministered with antacids
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
