Description

  • An orally active cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

Dosage

  • The usual course of treatment is 7 days, may be continued for up to 14 days if required.

Mode of Action

  • Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria by interfering in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall.

Indications

  • Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics.

  • Keep below 30°C temperature, protected from light & moisture, out of the reach of children.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Hypersensitivity Reactions

Usual Adult Dosage

Cefixime Characteristics
