Description

  • Tosma is indicated for prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma, allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis, alleviating complications of itching, pain and tenderness associated with neurofibroma, allergy such as hayfever, and urticaria.

Dosage

  • 1 mg twice daily for adults, 1 mg twice daily for children above 3 years, same as adult dose for elderly

Mode of Action

  • Ketotifen has anti-allergic and antihistamine properties, exerts sustained inhibitory effect on histamine reactions, effective in preventing asthmatic attacks, and studied in long-term clinical trials.

Interactions

  • May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols

Contraindications

  • Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agents, not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
