Indications
- Hyperlipidemias type IIA
- Hyperlipidemias type IIB
- Hyperlipidemias type III

Pharmacology
- Rapid hydrolysis to fenofibric acid
- Reductions in total cholesterol
- Reductions in LDL cholesterol
- Reductions in Apo-lipoprotein B
- Reductions in total triglycerides
- Increases in HDL
- Reductions in serum uric acid levels
- Enhanced absorption in micronised form
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose for hypercholesterolemia or mixed hyperlipidemia: 200 mg per day
- Initial dose for hypertriglyceridemia: 67 to 200 mg per day
- Dose individualization according to patient response
- To be taken with meal for optimizing bioavailability
Interaction
- Potentiate anticoagulant effects of warfarin
- Improve glucose tolerance when administered with antidiabetic drug
- Increase nephrotoxicity of cyclosporine
- Increase risk of rhabdomyolysis with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fenofibrate
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Existing gall bladder disease
- Breast feeding mothers
- Photosensitivity to ketoprofen
