Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Dose reduction in long term use
- Children: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body wt. daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients: Lowest effective dosage recommended
- Maximum daily dose of 150 mg
- Recommended daily dosage of 2-3 tablets
- Maximum daily dose of 150 mg for Diclofenac DT
- One capsule daily for Diclofenac TR
- 50 mg suppository 2-3 times daily for adults
- Maximum daily dose of 150 mg for suppository
- 2-4 g of Diclofenac gel should be applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
Interaction
- Increased plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Isolated reports of increased risk of haemorrhage with the combined use of diclofenac and anticoagulant therapy
- No influence on anticoagulant effect of oral antidiabetic agents when given together with diclofenac
- Cases of nephrotoxicity in patients receiving cyclosporin and diclofenac concomitantly
- Serious toxicity reported when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
- Caution required when considering concomitant therapy of NSAID and quinolones
- Increased frequency of unwanted effects with co-administration of diclofenac with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the products
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patient precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or other drugs with prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
- Lowest effective dose to be used during pregnancy
- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Not recommended during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation in rare instances of peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Keep out of contact with eyes or mucus membranes
- Hands should be washed properly after application
- Not to be taken by mouth
