Dosage
- Usual adult dose: 1 to 2 gm by IV or IM once a day
- Maximum adult dose: 4 gm/day
- Usual pediatric dose: 50 to 75 mg/kg IV or IM once a day
- Maximum pediatric dose: 2 gm/day
- Duration of therapy: 4 to 14 days
Administration
- Preparation for intramuscular and intravenous injections

- Administration over 2-4 minutes for IM or IV injection
