Fentigal VT 600 mg (Vaginal Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis
• Treatment of trichomoniasis
• Treatment of mixed vaginal infections caused by Candida Albicans & Trichomonas vaginalis

Pharmacology

• Broad-spectrum antimycotic agent
• Activity against dermatophytes and yeasts
• Exhibits antibacterial action
• Antiparasitic action against Trichomonas vaginalis

Dosage

• Intravaginal route of application
• Fenticonazole vaginal cream: One applicator full (about 5 gm) administered into the vagina in the morning and evening for three days
• Fenticonazole vaginal tablet: 600 mg VT for Trichomonas or mixed vaginal infections, single 600 mg VT administration for Candida albicans infections

Administration

• Screwing the applicator onto the tube
• Squeezing the tube gently to fill the applicator
• Delicately inserting the applicator into the vagina
• Applying Fenticonazole vaginal tablet deep into the vagina and pushing it up to the fornix

Interaction

Not investigated. Low systemic absorption makes interactions with other drugs unlikely.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Fenticonazole or any component of the formulation

Side Effects

• Transient burning after intravaginal administration
• Slight burning sensation after topical application or intravaginal administration
• Sensitisation reactions with prolonged topical application

Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended without physician's advice due to lack of pregnancy/lactation data

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid use with barrier contraceptives
• Discontinue treatment in case of hypersensitivity reaction or development of resistant organisms

Use in Special Populations

Not recommended for children

Overdose Effects

Unlikely due to low systemic absorption after vaginal application
