Fixen 30 mg/5 ml Suspension is an antihistamine used for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 12 years of age and over

Allergic Rhinitis:
- Adults and Children 12 years and older:
  - 60 mg twice daily
  - 120 mg once daily
  - 180 mg once daily
  - In case of impaired renal function: 60 mg once daily
Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria:
- Adults and Children 12 years and older:
  - 60 mg twice daily
  - 120 mg once daily
  - 180 mg once daily
  - In case of impaired renal function: 60 mg once daily

Fexofenadine is an inverse agonist of the H1 receptor. It has a potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors and does not cross the blood-brain barrier.

Coadministration with erythromycin or ketoconazole increases the level of fexofenadine in plasma. No interaction between fexofenadine and omeprazole was observed. Administration of an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide gels 15 minutes prior to Fixen causes a reduction in bioavailability.

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients.

Common side effects include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea. Immune system disorders may lead to hypersensitivity reactions like angioedema and systemic anaphylaxis.

Not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation due to lack of adequate data.

Elderly and Renally/Hepatically Impaired Patients:
- Administration with care in these special groups.
Effects on Ability to Drive and Use Machines:
- Unlikely to produce significant effects on the ability to drive or use machines.
Overdose Effects:
- May result in dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and dry mouth. Standard measures should be considered to remove any unabsorbed medicinal product.
Storage Conditions:
- Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.

The pharmacokinetics of fexofenadine are altered in individuals with renal impairment. Moderate to severe hepatic disease does not affect the pharmacokinetics of fexofenadine substantially.
Adverse events were similar in elderly patients compared to those under 65 years of age. However, the pharmacokinetics of fexofenadine is altered in individuals over 65 years of age.
