Indications
- Topical treatment for inflamed dermatoses
- Treatment for moist or dry eczema or dermatitis
- Treatment for atopic eczema, irritant or contact allergic eczema, seborrheic eczema
- Treatment for interiginous eczema, perianal and genital dermatitis
- Effective against dermatophytes, Candida spp., Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus
Pharmacology
- Miconazole is a substituted imidazole from the family of azoles
- Active against superficial candidiasis, dermatophytosis, and pityriasis versicolor
- Active against Aspergillus spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, and some gram-positive bacteria
- Hydrocortisone is a synthetically prepared glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory properties
Dosage & Administration
- Apply as a thin film two or four times daily for 1 to 2 weeks
- Rub well until fully vanished on the skin
- Continued treatment for at least one week after disappearance of all signs and symptoms
- Same dosage for adults and children
Interaction
- Antagonizes with Amphotericin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals hypersensitive to any components
- Not to be used in pregnancy or lactation without physician's advice
Side Effects
- Rare local sensitivity
- Long term use may decrease natural hormones production
Pregnancy & Lactation
- High doses of corticosteroids can cause fetal abnormalities
- Topical steroids should be limited during pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- To be dispensed only on the prescription of a registered physician
- Keep out of reach of children
- Careful use in children and elderly for long-term use
