Indications

Pharmacology
Potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-rheumatic, analgesic and antipyretic properties
Dosage & Administration
- Diclofenac FC Tablet: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses for adults, preferably after food
- Diclofenac SR Tablet: 1 tablet daily for adults, 1-3 mg/kg body wt. daily in divided doses for children
- Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet: 2-3 tablets daily for adults, 1-3 mg/kg body weight for children, dropped into a half-glass of water and stirred before swallowing
- Diclofenac TR Capsule: One capsule daily, preferably after mealtimes for adults
- Diclofenac Suppository: 50 mg suppository 2-3 times daily for adults
- Diclofenac injection: 1 ampoule daily for adults
- Diclofenac Gel: 2-4 g applied to the skin 3-4 times daily for external use
Interaction
- Lithium and digoxin: May increase plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Anticoagulants: Isolated reports of increased risk of hemorrhage
- Antidiabetic agents: Can be given together with oral antidiabetic agents without influencing their clinical effect
- Cyclosporin: Cases of nephrotoxicity reported in patients receiving cyclosporin and diclofenac concomitantly
- Methotrexate: Serious toxicity reported when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
- Quinolone antimicrobials: Caution should be exercised when considering concomitant therapy with NSAID and quinolones
- Other NSAIDs and steroids: Co-administration with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids may increase the frequency of unwanted effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the product
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
- Asthmatic patients with asthma attacks precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor drugs
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions such as rash and eczema
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin
- Skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
Should be employed only for compelling reasons during pregnancy, lowest effective dose should be used
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation in patients with advanced age
- Gel should not come in contact with eyes or mucus membranes
- Hands should be washed properly after application and not to be taken by mouth
