Oral dose for adults: 10-20 mg (1-2 tablets), every 6-8 hours daily
Maximum adult dose: 80 mg daily
Oral dose for children: 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight, every 6-8 hours daily
Rectal dose for adults: 30-60 mg every 4-8 hours
Rectal dose for children: Maximum 30 mg for those weighing 10 to 25 kg
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity
Contraindicated in neonates
Contraindicated in gastrointestinal hemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation
Contraindicated in patients with prolactin releasing pituitary tumor
Possible side effects: transient intestinal cramps, extrapyramidal phenomena, increased plasma prolactin level, allergic reactions like rash and urticaria
Use with caution in children due to risk of extra-pyramidal reactions
Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
Use with caution in infants due to incomplete blood-brain barrier
Use with caution in patients with severe renal insufficiency
