Description

Pharmacology
- Analgesic and antipyretic properties
- Inhibits isoforms of cyclooxygenase enzymes
Dosage and Administration
- Adult dosage: 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours up to a maximum of 4 gm (8 tablets) daily
- Extended Release Tablet dosage: Two tablets, swallowed whole, every 6 to 8 hours
- Syrup/Suspension dosage for children of varying age groups
- Suppository dosage for children and adults
- Paediatric Drop dosage for children of varying age groups
- Fast-acting tablet with actizorb technology dosage for adults and children
Interaction
- Diminished ability to metabolize large doses with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol
- Alcohol can increase the hepatotoxicity of Act overdosage
- Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives can prevent attainment of therapeutic Act levels
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol
