Indications
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis
- Prophylactic use during major surgical procedures
Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits formation of bacterial cell wall
- Isoxazolyl penicillin
- Bactericidal antibiotic
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Parenteral administration for adults, elderly, and children
- Specific dosing for severe infections
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Administration
- Oral administration should be 1 hour before a meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may result in increased levels of Fluxin in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
