Indications
- Treatment of Hypertension in adult patients
- Lowering blood pressure in pediatric patients
- Reduction of signs and symptoms of Heart Failure
- Reduction of mortality in treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction
Pharmacology
- Competitive inhibition of ACE
- Increased plasma renin activity
- Reduced aldosterone secretion
- Promotes vasodilation
- Blood pressure reduction
Dosage
- Initial dose of 10 mg/day for Hypertension in adults
- Initial dose of 2.5-5 mg/day for severe Hypertension
- Maintenance dose of up to 80 mg/day
- Dose adjustment based on renal function
Administration
- May be taken with or without food
Interaction
- Enhanced hypotensive effect with diuretics
- Decreased antihypertensive effect with NSAIDs
- Increased risk of renal function deterioration
- Increased risk of hyperkalaemia with K-sparing diuretics
Contraindications
- History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatment
- Concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment
- Pregnancy
- Children with Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) <30 mL/min/1.73 m2

Use in Special Populations
- Dose adjustment based on Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) level
- Avoid in children if GFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m2
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms: Hypotension, tachycardia, renal failure
- Management: Normal saline IV infusion, haemodialysis
