Interaction
Marked fall in blood pressure with ACE inhibitors, increased serum lithium levels, potent diuretics interaction with nephrotoxic antibiotics
Contraindications
- Anuria
- Electrolyte deficiency
- Pre-comatose states associated with liver cirrhosis
- Hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulphonamides

Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category C, cautious use in cardiogenic shock and first trimester of pregnancy, monitoring of blood pressure and pulse during rapid diuresis, caution in nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Increased risk of acute retention in patients with prostatic hypertrophy or impairment of micturition
- Risk of marked fall in blood pressure with added ACE inhibitors
- Increased toxic effects of nephrotoxic antibiotics
- Risk during driving or performing hazardous tasks
