Indications

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis
- Stable in gastric acid
- Rapid oral absorption
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250 mg three times daily
- Severe adult infections: 500 mg three times daily
- Children dosage: 125 mg three times daily
- Severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection: 3 gm every 12 hours
- Otitis media: 1 g three times daily for adults, 40 mg/kg in 3 divided doses for children
- Pneumonia: 500-1000 mg three times daily
Administration
- Reconstituted suspension can be added to milk, fruit juice, or water
- Immediate consumption of prepared suspension
Interaction
- Increased and prolonged blood levels with Probenecid
- Impact on gut flora and estrogen reabsorption
Contraindications
- Penicillin hypersensitivity
