Description
Creso 20 mg Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor indicated for relieving chronic heartburn symptoms, healing erosive esophagitis, maintaining healing of erosive esophagitis, eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection, treating Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, acid-related dyspepsia, duodenal & gastric ulcers, and more.
Dosage Instructions
- 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for 4-8 Weeks for Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
- 20 mg Once Daily for Maintenance of Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
- 20 mg Once Daily for Symptomatic GERD
- 40 mg Once Daily for Helicobacter Pylori Eradication in Triple Therapy
- 20-80 mg Once Daily for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
- 20-40 mg Once Daily for Acid-related Dyspepsia
- 20 mg Once Daily for Duodenal Ulcer for 2-4 Weeks and 20-40 mg Once Daily for Gastric Ulcer for 4-8 Weeks
- IV Injection: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for Adult Patients and Weight-based Dosage for Pediatric Patients
- 80 mg IV Infusion for Risk Reduction of Rebleeding of Gastric or Duodenal Ulcers in Adults
Administration
Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal. Oral suspension should be taken with water and can also be administered through a nasogastric or gastric tube. IV injection should be prepared with 0.9% Sodium Chloride for intravenous injection and administered intravenously over a specified period.
Interaction Warnings
Creso may interfere with absorption of drugs where gastric pH is important. Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity. Co-administration with certain drugs and clarithromycin may impact plasma levels of Creso and 14-hydroxyclarithromycin.

Pregnancy & Lactation
No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Animal studies show no teratogenic effects. Excretion in milk not studied. Breastfeeding should be discontinued if use is considered essential.
Precautions
- Symptomatic response does not preclude gastric malignancy
- Patients with difficulty swallowing can mix pellets with applesauce
- Antacids may be used while taking Creso
Special Populations
- Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness not established
- Geriatric Use: No overall differences in safety and efficacy observed
- Hepatic Insufficiency: No dosage adjustment recommended for mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency
- Renal Insufficiency: Pharmacokinetics in patients with renal impairment not expected to be altered
Overdose Effects
Acute toxicity in rats observed at high doses. No specific antidote known. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.
Storage Conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
