Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
  • Preferably after food
  • Children dosage: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body weight daily in divided doses
  • Elderly patients dosage: Lowest effective dosage recommended
  • Maximum daily dose: 150 mg
  • Diclofenac gel dosage: 2-4 g applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
  • External use only

Interaction

  • Drug interactions with Lithium and digoxin
  • Anticoagulants
  • Antidiabetic agents
  • Cyclosporin
  • Methotrexate
  • Quinolone antimicrobials
  • Other NSAIDs and steroids

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the product
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
  • Asthmatic patient with asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis triggered by acetylsalicylic acid
  • Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

Precautions & Warnings

  • Peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding in rare instances
  • Close observation for patients with advanced age
  • Avoid contact with eyes or mucus membranes
  • Hands should be washed after application
  • Not to be taken by mouth
