Description
- Acelex is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as respiratory tract infections, genito-urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear, nose and throat infections, and bone infections. It belongs to the first generation cephalosporin class and is active by mouth.

Pharmacology
- Cephalexin is a semisynthetic analogue of Cephalosporin C. It kills bacteria by interfering in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall.
Dosage & Administration
- Adult:
- Usual dose of 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
- 500 mg every 12 hours for specific infections
- Increased dose of 3 g to 6 g daily for severe infections
- Children:
- Dosage range of 25-100 mg/kg/day
- Maximum dose of 4 g daily
- Specific recommended doses based on weight for different age groups
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin group of antibiotics
