Indications

Pharmacology
- Mode of Action: Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Mechanism: Inhibits transpeptidase enzyme
- Activity: Active by mouth
Dosage & Administration
- Usual Adult Dose: 250-500 mg every 6 hours
- Severe Infections: Dose can be increased to 3-6 g daily
- Children's Dose Range: 25-100 mg/kg/day
- Dosage for Streptococcal Pharyngitis: 500 mg every 12 hours
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

- Pseudomembranous colitis
- Skin rash
- Angioedema
- Rise in serum aminotransferases
- Eosinophilia
- Neutropenia
- Superinfection with resistant microorganisms
