Indications
- Treatment of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia
- Patients unresponsive to standard alkylating-agent containing regimen
Pharmacology
- Metabolized to 2-fluoro-ara-A
- Phosphorylated by deoxycytidine kinase
- Inhibits DNA polymerase alpha and ribonucleotide reductase
- Multi-faceted mechanism of action
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 25 mg/m² body surface
- Administered intravenously for 5 consecutive days every 28 days
- Dosage calculated based on patient's body surface
- Different administration protocols for injection and tablets
Interaction
- Not recommended in combination with pentostatin
- Potential interaction with dipyridamole and cytarabine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
- Renal impairment with creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
- Decompensated hemolytic anemia
