Description
Peflacine 400mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of single infections or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible microorganisms. It is also used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics. It has a broad spectrum of activity with indications in gastrointestinal, urinary tract, respiratory tract, ear-nose-throat, bone-joint, skin-soft tissue, pelvic, abdominal-hepatobiliary infections, septicemia, bacteraemia, gonorrhea, endocarditis, and meningitis. Peflacine 400mg Tablet exerts its action by inhibiting the subunit-A of DNA gyrase (Topoisomerase II). It is administered orally in adult patients, with dosage readjustments required in severe hepatic insufficiency. Concomitant administration with antacids containing Aluminium and/or Magnesium Hydroxide gel should be avoided due to reduced absorption. Pefloxacin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Quinolone, children under 15 years, pregnant and lactating mothers, patients with inborn glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or a history of tendon lesion, tendonitis, or tendon rupture. It has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA and requires precautions to avoid photosensitivity reactions, ultraviolet radiation exposure, and pain in the Achilles tendon. The medicine should be stored below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture, and out of the reach of children.
