Contraindications
- Anuria
- Electrolyte deficiency
- Pre-comatose states associated with liver cirrhosis
- Hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulphonamides
Side Effects
- Electrolyte and water balance disturbance
- Alkalosis
- Uric acid retention
- Acute gout
- Provocation of hyperglycemia and glycosuria
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category C
- Caution in cardiogenic shock and first trimester of pregnancy
- Monitoring blood pressure and pulse during diuresis
- Possible inhibition of lactation or passage into breast milk during nursing
Precautions & Warnings
- Increased risk in patients with prostatic hypertrophy or impaired micturition
