Contraindications

  • Anuria
  • Electrolyte deficiency
  • Pre-comatose states associated with liver cirrhosis
  • Hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulphonamides

Side Effects

  • Electrolyte and water balance disturbance
  • Alkalosis
  • Uric acid retention
  • Acute gout
  • Provocation of hyperglycemia and glycosuria

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy category C
  • Caution in cardiogenic shock and first trimester of pregnancy
  • Monitoring blood pressure and pulse during diuresis
  • Possible inhibition of lactation or passage into breast milk during nursing

Precautions & Warnings

  • Increased risk in patients with prostatic hypertrophy or impaired micturition
