Indications

Pharmacology

• Selective binding to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels
• Increase in cell membrane permeability to chloride ions
• Hyperpolarization of nerve/muscle cell
• Cause death of parasite

Dosage & Administration

• Treatment dosage for COVIO positive
• Prophylaxis dosage based on body weight
• Dosage guidelines for strongyloidiasis based on body weight
• Dosage guidelines for onchocerciasis based on body weight

Interaction

• Potential interaction with warfarin causing increased INR

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the product

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category C
• Excretion in human milk

• Historical data on microfilaricidal drugs' reactions
• Possible allergic and inflammatory responses
• Treatment of severe Mazzotti reactions
• Possible adverse reactions for patients with hyperreactive onchodermatitis
• Rare serious/fatal encephalopathy in patients with Loa loa

Use in Special Populations

• Lack of safety and effectiveness data in pediatric patients weighing less than 15 kg
• Insufficient data for patients aged 65 and over
