Indications
- Treatment of insomnia
- Difficulty falling asleep

Pharmacology
- Interacts with Gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor complexes
- Allosterically coupled to benzodiazepine receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose of 2 or 3 mg for most adults
- Dose of 1 or 2 mg for persons over 65 years
- Should be taken immediately before going to bed
- Effects may last up to six hours
- Intake by individuals intending to sleep for at least 8 hours
Interaction
- Avoid using with alcohol and other sedating drugs
- May cause excessive sedation when combined with sedating substances
