Indications
- Tear deficiency due to impaired lacrimal secretion
- Tear deficiency due to functional disorders
- Tear deficiency due to deficient or incomplete eyelid closure
Pharmacology
- Hypromellose as a semisynthetic, inert and viscoelastic polymer
- Acts as a lubricant and artificial tear
- Symptomatic treatment of dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva
Dosage & Administration
- Individual dosage regimen for dry eye syndrome therapy
- Usual dose of 0.3% Hypromellose is 1 drop 3 to 5 times per day
- Dose of 0.5% Hypromellose varies per patient
- Instill 1 or 2 drops in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s)
- Frequency of administration depends on severity of the condition
Interaction
- Can be used in combination with contact lenses
- No compatibility study with lens material available
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or any ingredient in the formulation or component of the container
Side Effects
- Brief blurred vision
- Slight stinging sensation on instilling
- Burning, stinging, allergic reactions, or red eyes reported in some cases
- Transient blurring of vision reported after administration
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No experience regarding safety in human pregnancy or lactation
- Pediatric population studies not performed
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue if eye pains, changes in vision, continued redness, or irritation occur
- Discontinue if product changes color or becomes cloudy

Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool dry place away from light

- Do not touch tip of the tube surface to avoid contamination
