Indications
- Treatment of bronchospasm in adults
- Prevention of bronchospasm in adolescents
- Prevention of bronchospasm in children 6 years and older
Pharmacology
- Levosalbutamol as a single isomer beta 2-agonist
- Primary mechanism of action is unimpeded by (S)-salbutamol
- Clinically comparable bronchodilation with less beta-mediated side effects
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage for adults and adolescents above 12 years
- Tablet dosage for children (6-11 years)
- Syrup dosage for adults
- Syrup dosage for children (6-11 years)
Interaction
- Caution with other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators
- Caution with epinephrine
- Careful administration of additional adrenergic drugs to avoid deleterious cardiovascular effects
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to levosalbutamol or its components

- Hypocalcemia
- Palpitation
- Fine tremors of skeletal muscle
- Muscle cramps
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Burning substernal or epigastric pain
- Diarrhea
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk
- Unknown excretion in human milk
- Exercise caution when administered to nursing woman
Precautions & Warnings
- Particular caution in acute severe asthma
- Potentiated effect by hypoxia and concomitant treatment with xanthine derivatives, steroids, and diuretics
- Monitor serum potassium levels

- Symptoms of excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation
- Symptoms listed under side effects
- Stomach should be emptied in event of serious poisoning
- Caution with beta-blocker in patients with a history of bronchospasm
