Mode of Action
- Metabolized in the colon by saccharolytic bacteria
- Produces low molecular weight organic acids
- Lowers the pH of colon contents
- Promotes retention of water by an osmotic effect
- Increases peristaltic activity
Dosage and Administration
- Adult dosage: 3-6 tea-spoons daily for constipation
- Children dosage: 3 tea-spoons daily for constipation
- Infant dosage: 1-2 tea-spoons daily for constipation
- Adult dosage: 1-2 tea-spoons daily for damaged intestinal flora
- Children dosage: 1 tea-spoon daily for damaged intestinal flora

- Hypersensitivity to galactose or lactose
