Description
Nepco 150 mg Capsule is indicated for neuropathic pain, postherpetic neuralgia, partial-onset seizures, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury.
Indications
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
- Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)
- Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older
- Fibromyalgia
- Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury
Pharmacology
Pregabalin is a derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues.
Dosage
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) in adults: Maximum recommended dose is 100 mg three times a day (300 mg/day)
- Postherpetic neuralgia in adults (PHN): Recommended dose is 75 to 150 mg two times a day or 50 to 100 mg three times a day (150 to 300 mg/day)
- Management of fibromyalgia in adults: Recommended dose is 300 to 450 mg/day
- Route of administration: Oral route. Pregabalin CR tablet should be administered after an evening meal.
- Conversion from Pregabalin capsules to Pregabalin CR capsule tablet: Instructions provided
- Pregabalin tablet total daily dose: Dosed 2 or 3 times daily
- Pregabalin CR capsule capsule dose: Dosed once a day
- Dosing adjustment: Instructions provided
Administration
- Route of administration: Oral route. Can be taken with or without food. Pregabalin CR tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be split, crushed or chewed.
Interaction
- Drug interaction with medication: Nepco is unlikely to be involved in significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions.
- Drug interaction with food and others: Not applicable
Contraindications
- Pregabalin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components.

Pregnancy and lactation
- Pregnancy: No adequate and well-controlled studies with pregabalin in pregnant women. Potential risk to a fetus.
- Lactation: Small amounts of pregabalin detected in the milk of lactating women. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with pregabalin.
Precautions and warnings
- Angioedema can occur and may be associated with life-threatening respiratory compromise requiring emergency treatment.
- Discontinuation in case of hypersensitivity reactions
- Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
- Respiratory depression may occur with concomitant CNS depressants
- Impairment of the patient's ability to drive or operate machinery
- Increased seizure frequency or other adverse reactions if rapidly discontinued
- Peripheral edema may occur
- Cautious coadministration with thiazolidinedione antidiabetic agents

- Use in children and adolescents: Safety and effectiveness not established for various indications
- Overdose effects: Symptoms include reduced consciousness, depression/anxiety, and seizures
