Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage of 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Children dosage of 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients recommended lowest effective dosage
- Maximum daily dose of 150 mg
- Capsule dosage of one capsule daily
- Suppository dosage of 50 mg 2-3 times daily
- Gel dosage of 2-4 g applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
Interactions
- Increased plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Increased risk of hemorrhage with combined use of diclofenac and anticoagulant therapy
- No influence on antidiabetic agents' clinical effect
- Reported nephrotoxicity with concomitant use of cyclosporin
- Serious toxicity reported when methotrexate and NSAIDs given within 24 hours of each other
- Potential convulsions due to interaction between quinolones and NSAIDs
- Increased frequency of unwanted effects with co-administration of diclofenac with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the products
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac like other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patients in whom attack with asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or by other drugs with prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor

Pregnancy & Lactation

- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Not recommended during pregnancy due to insufficient clinical data
- Insignificant quantity detected in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation in rare instances of peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Close observation in patients with advanced age
- Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes
- Proper hand washing after application
- Not to be taken by mouth
