Description
- Trado is used for the treatment of moderate to severe painful conditions.
Indications
- Postoperative pain
- Colic and spastic pain
- Cancer pain
- Joint pain
- Neck and back pain
- Pain associated with osteoporosis
Pharmacology
- Centrally acting synthetic analgesic compound
- Inhibits reuptake of neurotransmitters
- Modifies pain impulse transmission
- Activates descending serotonergic pathways
- Stimulation of mu-opioid receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual doses of 50 to 100 mg every four to six hours
- Initial dose of 100 mg for acute pain
- Initial dose of 50 mg for chronic painful conditions
- Total daily dosage should not exceed 400 mg
Interaction
- Not recommended with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors
- Concomitant administration with carbamazepine may require dose adjustment
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Tramadol
- Contraindicated in acute intoxication with certain drugs

Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients at risk for respiratory depression
- Not recommended for patients dependent on opioids
- Caution with concomitant CNS depressants
- Great caution with concomitant MAO inhibitors
- Caution in patients with increased intracranial pressure or head injury
Use in Special Populations
- Dose for children from the age of 1 year: 1-2 mg/kg body weight
- Suppository not recommended for children and adolescents below the age of 14 years
- Trado 100 mg SR Capsules not studied in children
