Indications

Pharmacology

  • Proton Pump Inhibitor
  • Specific Inhibition of (H+/K+)-ATPase

Dosage

  • 30mg Once daily for Maintenance of Healed erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn
  • 30mg Once daily for Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD
  • 60mg Once daily for Healing of erosive esophagitis

Administration

  • Can be taken without regard to food
  • Swallowed whole
  • Can be administered by opening the capsule and swallowing intact granules

Interaction

  • With medicine: Atazanavir, Warfarin

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation

Use in Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness not established in patients below 12 years age
  • No dose adjustment necessary for elderly patients
  • No dose adjustment necessary for patients with renal impairment
  • No dose adjustment necessary for patients with mild hepatic impairment
  • Maximum daily dose consideration for patients with moderate hepatic impairment

Overdose Effects

  • No reports of significant overdose
  • Multiple doses of 120mg and a single dose of 300mg did not result in severe adverse events
