Indications

Pharmacology
Cyclophosphamide is biotransformed principally in the liver to active alkylating metabolites by a mixed function microsomal oxidase system. These metabolites interfere with the growth of susceptible rapidly proliferating malignant cells.
Dosage & Administration
- Initial course of 40 to 50 mg/kg
- Intravenous and oral regimens
Interaction
Metabolism and leukopenic activity reportedly increased by chronic administration of high doses of phenobarbital
Contraindications
- Severely depressed bone marrow function
- Previous hypersensitivity to cyclophosphamide
Side Effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Alopecia
- Leukopenia
- Hemorrhagic ureteritis
- Interstitial pneumonitis
- Fever without documented infection
- Hematologic effects
- Pigmentation of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category D. Cyclophosphamide is excreted in breast milk.
