Indications
- Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail
- Treatment of Tinea Capitis
- Treatment of fungal infection of the skin
- Treatment of yeast infections
- Treatment of Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
Pharmacology
Inhibits biosynthesis of Ergosterol, resulting in fungal cell death; active against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte and Trichophyton Rubrum
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage for toenail and fingernail onychomycosis
- Granule dosage based on body weight
- Cream application and likely durations of treatment
- 1% Spray application and relief of clinical symptoms
Interaction
Inhibitor of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme; requires careful monitoring when co-administered with specific drug classes

- Hypersensitivity to terbinafine

- No evidence to suggest different dosages or side-effects in elderly patients
Overdose Effects
- Limited clinical experience
- Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, headache
