Dosage & Administration
- Diclofenac FC Tablet for Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Diclofenac SR Tablet for Adults: 1 tablet daily, taken whole with liquid
- Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet for Adults: 2-3 tablets daily, maximum daily dose is 150 mg
- Diclofenac TR Capsule: One capsule daily
- Diclofenac Suppository for Adults: 50 mg suppository 2-3 times daily
- Diclofenac injection: 1 ampoule daily for adults
- Diclofenac Gel: Applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
Interaction
- Increase plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Increased risk of hemorrhage with anticoagulant therapy
- Given together with oral antidiabetic agents without influencing their clinical effect
- Cases of nephrotoxicity reported with concomitant use of cyclosporin and diclofenac
- Serious toxicity reported when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
- Convulsions may occur due to an interaction between quinolones and NSAIDs
- Co-administration with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids may increase unwanted effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patient
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

- Eructation
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions such as rash and eczema
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Employed only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
- Lowest effective dose should be used
- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Not recommended during pregnancy for Diclofenac Sodium Gel
- Insignificant quantity detected in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Do not allow to come in contact with the eyes or mucus membranes
- Hands should be washed properly after application
- Not to be taken by mouth
