Dosage & Administration

  • Diclofenac FC Tablet for Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
  • Diclofenac SR Tablet for Adults: 1 tablet daily, taken whole with liquid
  • Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet for Adults: 2-3 tablets daily, maximum daily dose is 150 mg
  • Diclofenac TR Capsule: One capsule daily
  • Diclofenac Suppository for Adults: 50 mg suppository 2-3 times daily
  • Diclofenac injection: 1 ampoule daily for adults
  • Diclofenac Gel: Applied to the skin 3-4 times daily

Interaction

  • Increase plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
  • Increased risk of hemorrhage with anticoagulant therapy
  • Given together with oral antidiabetic agents without influencing their clinical effect
  • Cases of nephrotoxicity reported with concomitant use of cyclosporin and diclofenac
  • Serious toxicity reported when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
  • Convulsions may occur due to an interaction between quinolones and NSAIDs
  • Co-administration with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids may increase unwanted effects

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
  • Contra-indicated in asthmatic patient
  • Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

  • Peripheral edema
  • Skin reactions such as rash and eczema

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Employed only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
  • Lowest effective dose should be used
  • Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
  • Not recommended during pregnancy for Diclofenac Sodium Gel
  • Insignificant quantity detected in breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

  • Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Do not allow to come in contact with the eyes or mucus membranes
  • Hands should be washed properly after application
  • Not to be taken by mouth
