Indications
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Acute gouty arthritis
- Moderate pain associated with dental surgery
Pharmacology
- Potent cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor
- Inhibition of COX-2 decreases clinical signs and symptoms
- Selective inhibition of COX-2 decreases potential for GI toxicity and effects on platelet aggregation
- Dose-dependent inhibition of COX-2 without inhibition of COX-1
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended doses for different conditions
- Patients may require additional postoperative analgesia
- Shortest duration possible and lowest effective daily dose should be used
- Patient's need for symptomatic relief and response to therapy should be re-evaluated periodically
Interaction
- Interaction with oral anticoagulants, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II antagonists, acetylsalicylic acid, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, lithium
- Take without regards to meals
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or active GI bleeding
- Patients with specific allergic-type reactions
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Estimated renal creatinine clearance
- Children and adolescents under 16 years of age
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Congestive heart failure
- Hypertension
- Established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended in women attempting to conceive
- Excreted in the milk of lactating rats
- Women who use the product must not breastfeed
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution with patients at risk of developing gastrointestinal complication with NSAIDs
- Patients with significant risk factors for cardiovascular events should be treated with caution
- Monitoring of renal function should be considered
- Caution in patients with a history of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, hypertension, pre-existing edema
- Monitoring of liver function and discontinuation if signs of hepatic insufficiency occur
- Discontinue in case of hypersensitivity, and caution when co-administering with warfarin or other oral anticoagulants
Overdose Effects
- Administration of single and multiple doses did not result in significant toxicity
- Usual supportive measures in the event of overdose
