Indications

  • Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
  • Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria

Pharmacology

Blocks histamine responsible for allergic symptoms such as pruritus, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes

Dosage & Administration

  • Allergic Rhinitis:
    • Adults and children 12 years and older:
      • 60 mg twice daily
      • 120 mg once daily
      • 180 mg once daily
    • Children from 6 to 11 years:
      • 30 mg twice daily
      • 60 mg once daily
    • Children from 2 to 11 years:
      • 30 mg or 5 ml twice daily
  • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria:
    • Adults and children 12 years and older:
      • 60 mg twice daily
      • 120 mg once daily
      • 180 mg once daily
    • Children from 6 to 11 years:
      • 30 mg twice daily
      • 60 mg once daily
    • Children from 6 months to less than 2 years:
      • 15 mg or 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) twice daily
    • Children from 2 to 11 years:
      • 30 mg or 5 ml (1 tsp) twice daily

Interaction

May interact with erythromycin, ketoconazole, and antacids

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride
