Description
Zenoxy is primarily a bacteriostatic broad-spectrum antibiotic with a wide spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. It acts as an antimicrobial agent by inhibiting the protein synthesis of bacteria and is effective against parasites such as rickettsia, mycoplasma, chlamydia, and amoeba, etc.

Mode of Action
Oxytetracycline inhibits cell growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing the amino-acyl tRNA from binding to the A site of the ribosome. It is lipophilic and can easily pass through the cell membrane or passively diffuse through porin channels in the bacterial membrane.
Dosage & Administration
For adults, the recommended dosage is 250-500 mg every 6 hours. Tetracyclines should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals to avoid interference from food, milk, or dairy products.
Interaction
- Antacids Containing Aluminium, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, or Iron Salts
- Long Term Therapy with Tetracyclines and Anticoagulants
- Concurrent Use of Tetracyclines or Zenoxy with Oral Contraceptives
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Tetracyclines
- Children Under 12 Years of Age
- Pregnant Women

Pregnancy & Lactation
Tetracyclines can cross the placenta, are found in fetal tissues, and can have toxic effects on the developing fetus. They are also present in the milk of lactating women who are taking the drug.
Precautions & Warnings
Zenoxy should be used with caution in renal impairment.
