Indications
- Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis
- Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
- Urticaria
Pharmacology
- Long-acting non-sedative histamine H1-receptor antagonist
- Antagonizes platelet activating factor (PAF)
- Inhibition of degranulation of mast cells
- Inhibition of release of cytokines
- Better therapeutic effect than isolated antihistamine
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose: 10 mg once a day for adults and adolescents over 12 years
- May be taken with or without food
- Children aged 2 to 11 years: different doses based on weight
Interaction
- Increased systemic exposure when administered with ketoconazole or erythromycin
- Caution with statins, CNS depressants, or alcohol
- Grapefruit and Grapefruit juice interaction
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or excipients
