    • Consistent and controlled pharmacological action
  • Pharmacology:
    • Inhibits gastric acid by blocking proton pump enzyme system
    • Effective for short-term treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Dosage:
    • Erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for adults
    • Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 20 mg once daily for adults
    • H. pylori eradication: 20 mg twice daily for adults
    • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 40-80 mg twice daily for adults
    • Erosive esophagitis: 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for children (weight-dependent)
  • Administration:
    • Swallow whole with liquid
    • Can be dispersed in non-carbonated water if needed
    • Do not chew or crush
  • Interaction:
    • Metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
    • No clinically significant interactions with certain CYP enzymes
    • Potential interference with CYP2C19
    • May interfere with absorption of certain drugs like ketoconazole and iron salts
