Indications
- Treatment of hypertension
Pharmacology
- Blocks vasoconstrictor effects of angiotensin II
- Inhibits negative regulatory feedback of angiotensin II on renin secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Usual starting dose of 20 mg once daily
- May be increased to 40 mg if further blood pressure reduction is required
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions reported with digoxin or warfarin
- Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) may attenuate the antihypertensive effect
