Indications

• Disinfects clean hands of doctors, nurses, and individuals
• Disinfects surgical instruments
• Disinfects skin prior to surgery or invasive procedures
• Disinfects wound dressing

Composition

• 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
• 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol

Mode of Action

Binds positively charged chlorhexidine cation to negatively charged bacterial cell walls resulting in bactericidal effect

Dosage & Administration

• Disinfect clean hands/contaminated materials: 3 ml on hands, scrub until dry
• Disinfect surgical instruments: 5 ml in clean pot, immerse instruments for 2 minutes
• Disinfect skin prior to surgery: 3 ml with cotton, scrub on skin until dry
• Disinfect wound/wound dressing: 3 ml with cotton, scrub on the wound until dry

Interaction

Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents. Hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains in fabrics previously in contact with chlorhexidine solutions

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition

Precautions & Warnings

Avoid contact with brain, meninges, middle ear, sensitive tissues, and eyes. Do not inject or use in body cavities
