Indications
- Rapid acting wide spectrum microbicidal preparation
- Disinfect clean hands of doctors, nurses, and persons
- Disinfect surgical instruments
- Disinfect skin prior to surgery or invasive procedures
- Disinfect wound dressing
Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol BP
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal effect of chlorhexidine cation
- Binding to negatively charged bacterial cell walls
- Bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations
- Membrane disruption leading to cell death at high concentrations
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfect clean hands and contaminated materials with approximately 3 ml
- Disinfect surgical instruments by immersing in approximately 5 ml for 2 minutes
- Disinfect skin prior to surgery with approximately 3 ml using cotton
- Disinfect wound or wound dressing with approximately 3 ml using cotton
Interaction
- Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents
- Hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains in fabrics previously in contact with chlorhexidine solutions

- Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
