Indications

Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol BP
Pharmacology
- Chlorhexidine salts dissociate at physiologic pH
- Bactericidal effect due to binding of cationic molecule to bacterial cell walls
- Results in bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations
- Results in membrane disruption and cell death at high concentrations
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfect clean hands with essential amount (almost 3 ml)
- Disinfect surgical instruments with essential amount (almost 5 ml) in a clean pot for 2 minutes
- Disinfect skin prior to surgery with essential amount (almost 3 ml) using cotton
- Disinfect wound/wound dressing with essential amount (almost 3 ml) using cotton
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and anionic agents, hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains in fabrics
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
