Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol BP
Pharmacology
Bactericidal effect due to the binding of positively charged chlorhexidine cation to negatively charged bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfects clean hand, contaminated materials - essential amount of 3 ml
- Disinfects surgical instruments - essential amount of 5 ml, immerse for 2 minutes
- Disinfects skin prior to surgery - essential amount of 3 ml with cotton
- Disinfects wound/wound dressing - essential amount of 3 ml with cotton
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents. Hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains in fabrics
Contraindications
Not for use in patients hypersensitive to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any of its compositions
