Pharmacology

• Isomer of propyl alcohol with antibacterial properties
• Exact mechanism of disinfecting action not known
• Kills cells by denaturing cell proteins and DNA
• Interferes with cellular metabolism
• Dissolves cell lipo-protein membranes

Dosage & Administration

• More convenient than hand washing with soap and water
• Recommended when soap and water are not available
• Apply to the palm of one hand
• Rub hands together
• Rub over all surfaces of hands and fingers until dry
