Indications

Pharmacology

  • Doxylamine Succinate - Antihistamine
  • Pyridoxine Hydrochloride - Vitamin B6 analog
  • Blocks Histamine (H1) receptor
  • Affects vestibular system
  • Decreases stimulation of vomiting center
  • Antiemetic properties

Dosage & Administration

  • One tablet orally at bedtime initially
  • Maximum recommended dose of two tablets per day
  • Take on an empty stomach with water
  • Swallow tablets whole
  • Daily use, not as needed

Interaction

  • Contraindicated with MAOIs
  • Not recommended with alcohol or CNS depressants

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to ingredients
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
  • Intensified CNS effects

Side Effects

  • Somnolence
  • Accidents with CNS depressants

Overdose Effects

  • Treatment includes gastric lavage, activated charcoal, and symptomatic treatment
